The owners wished to make this huge “bare-bones” lower level into an extension of the upstairs on a restricted budget.
A “tray” ceiling with xenon lighting was installed to mask the existing ductwork and maximize all ceiling heights. Creative use of arches and columns concealed load-bearing beams and posts.
The remodel included; a gas “direct-vent” fireplace, custom oak bar, a kitchenette with under-mount sink, granite countertops, wine rack with stemware holder, and a game room with built-in pool cue alcove.
A bathroom was installed including a Kohler pedestal sink, a vanity alcove with a granite shelf, Kohler toilet, and a stunning porcelain tile shower with a shampoo niche.
Glass French-style doors with a top-lite transom allowed plenty of natural light to illuminate the play-room. Enhancements included granite alcove shelves, granite hearths, bull-nose corners, a granite pool stick holder, and a knock-down finish was applied to the newly drywalled walls. Gorgeous ceramic tile flooring was installed in a offset pattern throughout the space.
Lighting consisted of recessed cans, wall sconces, and under-cabinet and in cabinet led’s all on dimmer switches.
Creativity in the design included A/V shelving tucked under the staircase and a hinged picture frame concealing the electrical service panel.
